Canine Fitness
What is Canine Fitness?
Do you have a working dog that goes for long periods between jobs? A canine athlete that needs to be in top shape for competition? Maybe you just have a couch potato that goes on the occasional hike.
Just like people, dogs have muscles, joints, and ligaments that can be injured, but they often don’t know or recognize their limits. By introducing our dogs to strength and conditioning, we can reduce the chance of serious injury occurring.
How does it work?
Here, we have two options for canine fitness: Private and Group Class. Think of group class similar to going to a yoga or weight lifting class, while private sessions are like hiring a personal trainer.
In group, you learn practical and basic foundations that are used in all levels of canine fitness. These classes are designed to teach general skills. In private sessions dedicated to fitness, you will get a customized exercise program for your dog that is built to utilize their strengths, strengthen their weaknesses, and address specific goals a dog may have.
Who is it for?
Anyone! All dogs can benefit from focused fitness. It doesn’t matter if they are big or small, if they have a job retrieving fowl or herding cattle, or if they are busy spending their days perfecting the art of being a couch potato. Fitness is for every one of them.
Not only does fitness offer physical benefits, but it can also build confidence (in both you and your dog), strengthen your relationship, and provide groundwork to advance onto more intense sports and activities, like agility, flyball, and dock-diving.
Pricing
- INITIAL CONSULT AND EVALUATION | $100
During this 2-hour evaluation, I will come to your house to meet you, your dog, and get all the information I can about your situation. If you and your dog have the foundational skills, you will receive your first fitness plan at the end of the evaluation. If foundational work is needed, you will first receive a personalized training plan to establish those foundational skills
- FOLLOW UP SESSION | $75
These 1-hour sessions allow me to come back and assess progress and either adjust your existing plan, or create you an entire new plan. Regularly updating exercise plans not only allows us to alternate what muscles are getting worked, but also keeps it from getting boring and repetitive (for us and the dogs). Follow-up sessions are available in packages that provide discounts.
